In a move that proves punk’s not dead, legendary adult director and AVN Hall of Famer Jim Powers is swapping his camera for a bass guitar once again. His old-school punk rock outfit, Killroy, just dropped a blistering new single, “Street Bowling,” and they’re gearing up to tear down the house with a live show on August 1st before jetting off to one of the world’s biggest punk festivals.
The Sound of a New Rebellion
For those who know Powers only for his prolific, award-winning directing career, his punk rock roots run deep. Killroy’s new single, “Street Bowling,” is a shot of pure, high-octane energy, featuring the title track alongside “Klaus Schwab” and the previously released “TV.” It’s the band’s first release of 2025, reuniting original members Jim Lane (Powers’ real name), Tom De Spain, and Eric Troop, now joined by Ken Wilkes on drums.
The new music serves as a perfect battle cry for what promises to be a massive summer for the band. Powers himself is buzzing with energy for what’s to come.
“We’re pumped for the Bar 10 show and, of course, to be heading over to the UK as part of the anarchy of Rebellion 2025. This summer is going to be epic. Many of our fans can’t make it to Blackpool, so we’re doing a send-off show. Mark your calendars and be there! And check out the new single!”
Live and Loud: From LA to the UK
Before Killroy heads across the pond to play the iconic Rebellion Festival in Blackpool, England, they’re throwing a massive party for their local fans. The “Send Off to Rebellion Festival” show is set for Friday, August 1st, at Bar 10 inside the Corbin Bowl in Tarzana, California.
For a $15 cover, fans can catch Killroy alongside a killer lineup of support acts, including Sidekick, LA Slum Lords, and The Cursed Machine. It’s an all-ages show, so everyone can get in on the action. This isn’t just another local gig; it’s a prelude to sharing a stage at Rebellion, a festival that stands as a global mecca for punk rock culture.
The Man Behind the Mayhem
For the uninitiated, Jim Powers is a titan of the adult industry. Growing up in the Valley in the ‘70s on a diet of comic books, horror movies, and skateboarding, he embraced the ‘80s punk scene with a mohawk and a spot in touring bands. After a stint as a stockbroker, a fateful visit to the AVN Awards in 1992 convinced him he could do better, leading him to direct thousands of scenes, win countless awards, and earn a coveted spot in the AVN Hall of Fame.
But through it all, the punk rock spirit never faded. His band Killroy has graced the stages of legendary LA venues like the Roxy and Viper Room. This dual life isn’t a new hobby; it’s a core part of his identity. It taps into a growing trend of creators in the adult world expanding their brands into new creative territories, from podcasts to music, connecting with fans on a more personal level. Powers, however, has been living this reality for decades, making him less of a trend-follower and more of an originator.
An Epic Summer Awaits
With a new single cranking up the volume and two major shows on the horizon, Jim Powers and Killroy are proving that raw, authentic energy never goes out of style. Whether he’s behind the camera or on stage with a bass, Powers continues to push boundaries.
As he put it, this summer is going to be “epic.” And for fans of raw punk rock and unapologetic creators, it’s a show you won’t want to miss. To keep up with his adventures on and off the stage, you can follow him on X at @jimpowersxxx.
